Ryan Kastner

As Chief Business Development Officer, Ryan leads sales, growth and innovation at Blumont Annuity Company. His mission is to support companies and associations concerned about pension risk by developing innovative and customized solutions that can efficiently secure the retirement income of their former employees and plan members. It’s a job for which he’s well suited.

Previously, Ryan headed the Pension Risk Transfer group for a leading retirement and benefits consultancy in Canada. It was there where he advised on a $5 billion pension longevity insurance transaction, the first of its kind in North America and fifth largest globally at the time of completion. In addition, he is a well-regarded speaker and thought leader on issues relating to pension risk management.

Initially trained as a retirement actuary, Ryan’s understanding of pension issues, the impact of legacy liabilities on a corporate balance sheet and the traditional challenges in existing pension risk transfer solutions allows him to approach each unique situation with a fresh perspective. He can then work with plan sponsors, drawing on Blumont Annuity’s unique expertise, to provide – or create – thoughtful group retirement solutions tailored to their specific needs.

Ryan graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science (Major in Mathematics/Minor in Statistics) and is a Fellow of both the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
